GENERAL K-7 NUMERACY AND INTERVENTION LEVELS

Each level below is designed to sequentially follow on from the level preceding it. Our program is not based on what age or grade your student is at school, but rather their individual current level of mastery in each maths concept.

The best way to determine what level your student/s should start is by taking the online placement test or requesting the downloadable assessment for more accurate diagnosis here.

Below you'll find a detailed description of each level.

LEVEL FOCUS:
Single & Multiple Digit Multiplication

In this level the student progresses to fast addition (multiplication) as an even more efficient tool for communicating than addition. They continue with the same Integer blocks to understand multiplication through the simple rectangular model. They master multiplication through finding area, factors, dimensions and more.

Topics Covered:
  • Building rectangles to identify factors and products
  • Skip counting as a precursor to single digit multiplication
  • Mastering all single digit multiplication facts (times tables)
  • Fluently multiplying any combination of whole numbers
  • Solving for an unknown factor
  • Solving abstract and real-world problems involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  • Understanding properties of prime and composite numbers
  • Multiplying, adding, and subtracting Australian currency
  • Standard metric units of measure
  • Place Value through to millions
  • & more.

LEVEL FOCUS:
Single & Multiple Digit Division

This level transitions the student from multiplication to division in the simplest and most efficient way possible. Through building more rectangles and continuing in a structured, sequential and mastery-based manner, students develop fluency in division and problem-solving across all operations. Fractions are introduced, measurement is mastered while they explore shapes, angles, area, and volume.

Topics Covered:
  • Bridging from multiplication to division through solving for an unknown
  • Mastering division of all single numbers
  • Fluently dividing any combination of whole numbers
  • Interpreting remainders in short and long division
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing whole numbers
  • Converting Australian currency & metric units of measure
  • Introduction to geometry including angles points, segments, rays, and lines
  • Classifying shapes based on defining attributes
  • Understanding and computing area and volume
  • Fraction notation as a progression from division
  • & more.
