About this Training
As a natural progression from our Foundations of Maths training and Multiplication & Division training, we continue sequentially to mastery of Fractions.
So many of our students struggle when it comes to understanding fractions, decimals and percents. We tend to focus on teaching procedures to calculate answers, only to find that mastery of these concepts continue to evade a student. This shortcoming affects their confidence not only for assessments and exams, but for everyday life applications, as well as future study options and life career choices.
You've likely tried teaching fractions with pie graphs and slices of pizza, only to find it ineffective. The student doesn't understand the concept because they have no tactile understanding of how to divide and decimalise a number.
Using our specific multi-sensory approach, hands-on Advanced Kit and I-CRAVE Maths® Methodology, students can confidently and easily learn fractions and beyond!

Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) Alignment
This professional learning has been developed to support educators in strengthening their knowledge and practice through evidence-based, explicit and multi-sensory mathematics instruction.
This professional learning aligns with relevant focus areas of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). It may contribute towards teachers' professional learning requirements, subject to the requirements of their employing authority and teacher registration authority.
This professional learning supports educators in the following APST domains:
- Standard 1 – Know students and how they learn
Develop an understanding of how students build conceptual knowledge of multiplication and division, recognise common misconceptions and identify learning gaps through diagnostic assessment. - Standard 2 – Know the content and how to teach it
Strengthen pedagogical content knowledge through explicit, systematic instruction that develops multiplication and division concepts using mathematical language, visual representations and concrete-representational-abstract (CRA) teaching. - Standard 3 – Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
Implement structured teaching sequences and practical, multi-sensory strategies that help students develop conceptual understanding before progressing to efficient mathematical procedures. - Standard 5 – Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
Use diagnostic assessment and ongoing progress monitoring to identify student understanding, inform teaching decisions and support mastery of multiplication and division concepts. - Standard 6 – Engage in professional learning
Develop practical knowledge and confidence in delivering evidence-informed multiplication and division instruction that improves mathematical understanding and long-term student success.
Manipulatives Included
Multi-Sensory Advanced Kit* (also included in the 'Total Maths Mastery' training.

Used for teaching fractions, decimals, percents and algebra, this CRA Maths Multi-sensory Advanced Kit is the only kit you'll need for extending a student's understanding beyond whole numbers.
Based on a rectangle model, this continues to enable you to teach maths using our ICRAVE* Maths Methodology and a hands-on multi-sensory approach.
Made of high quality, uniquely coloured cards, clear plastic overlays and a full set of math symbols.
This Advanced Kit comes with a printed Advanced Kit Booklet when you purchase your training course and the supportive Explanation Video sent to you via email.
You'll also receive a set of CRA Maths Colour-coded Pencils.

These pencils are specifically colour matched to the Integer Block colours, making it easy for you - and your student - to learn to identify each number as it is taught. They are a great tool for the representation component of the student drawing what they've built. Fun, easy and applicable!

We invite you to, and recommend your attendance at, monthly 'live' online group Implementation Sessions through the Zoom platform.
This model will ensure you achieve understanding and mastery before progressing, and will also provide you with an opportunity to have any questions answered in regards to implementation within your classroom, small groups or one-on-one setting.
Prerequisites
We recommend prior attendance at our 'Foundations Of Maths' and 'Multiplication & Division' training. There are no other requirements for this training: just a vision to see your students excel in maths; to teach them the way they learn; and to transform their lives.
PD hours (minimum 25hours)
- 10 hours approx. of video course content
- 15 hours approx. of practical implementation and training requirements (weekly implementation sessions, resource tasks, etc)
Multi-sensory Maths Specialist Accreditation Program Pathway
This course will contribute to your elective PD. You will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion. This 'Focus on Fractions' forms the third module of three, and is part of Maths Australia's 'Multi-sensory Maths Specialist Accreditation' program.
