"These workshops are perfect for intervention, learning difficulties and the early years to give kids a true grasp of core mathematical concepts"
About this Training
Particularly for students with dyscalculia, maths anxiety and learning differences, maths must be taught using hands-on materials and a sequential framework. In our abstract world of teaching mathematical procedures that merely must be memorised, understanding Place Value, Addition, Subtraction and Time are critical concepts that many students fail to comprehend. We have all seen that if mastery of these basic concepts continue to evade a student, this shortcoming affects their confidence not only for assessments and exams, but for everyday life applications, as well as future study options and life career choices.
Using specialised Integer Block Kits, in this training you will master how to teach the following easily and effortlessly so that any student can understand these foundational concepts, and so that you as the teacher have full confidence in using these hands-on manipulative tools to explicitly and accurately teach place value, addition, subtraction, time and beyond...
Topics Covered
1. Introduction to the Pedagogy of Multisensory Maths Instruction
2. ICRAVE* Methodology & the Language Of Maths 3. Counting 0-9
4. Place Value (Hundreds, Tens, Units)
5. Addition
6. Subtraction
7. Telling Time
There will be time for Q & A's after the session
Manipulatives required
Participants to this training will need a CRA Maths Multi-Sensory Integer Block Kit* for engagement and experiential learning.

The CRA Maths Multi-Sensory Integer Block Kit is our recommended teaching tool for all number and algebra related to whole numbers. By using these hands-on manipulatives, your student is able to bridge the gap from concrete understanding > to graphic representation > to abstract application and mastery of counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The Kit's additional features and improvements in size (now compatible with popular building blocks such as lego*), quality and presentation make this the most highly recommended in the current marketplace for integer-based base ten blocks.
*Note: A Math U See Integer Block Kit, Mortensen Maths Block Kit or OG Maths Kit may also be used for this training. Please note that OG Maths Kits use a different colour coding standard for some numbers.
Prerequisites
There are no requirements for this training: just a vision to see your students excel in maths; to teach them the way they learn; and to transform their lives.
Accreditation
This course will contribute to elective PD. You will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion.
