About this Training
As a natural progression from our Foundations of Maths training, we continue sequentially to mastery of multiplication and division of whole numbers. Using hands-on, multi-sensory tools, you will understand how to teach your students the more complex maths equations using simple and effective strategies. Multiplication is simply "fast adding" and division of whole numbers can be taught easily when you lay the foundations properly.
By following step-by-step instruction throughout the training, you will understand the importance of beginning every lesson with concrete/ hands-on understanding before progressing through representational to an abstract understanding of maths. This is a massive leap forward in maths education. Your students will be inspired and engaged!
Perfect for teachers and intervention specialists with primary school or high school students requiring general maths instruction, individualised support or intervention.

Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) Alignment
This professional learning has been developed to support educators in strengthening their knowledge and practice through evidence-based, explicit and multi-sensory mathematics instruction.
This professional learning aligns with relevant focus areas of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). It may contribute towards teachers' professional learning requirements, subject to the requirements of their employing authority and teacher registration authority.
This professional learning supports educators in the following APST domains:
- Standard 1 – Know students and how they learn
Develop an understanding of how students build conceptual knowledge of multiplication and division, recognise common misconceptions and identify learning gaps through diagnostic assessment. - Standard 2 – Know the content and how to teach it
Strengthen pedagogical content knowledge through explicit, systematic instruction that develops multiplication and division concepts using mathematical language, visual representations and concrete-representational-abstract (CRA) teaching. - Standard 3 – Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
Implement structured teaching sequences and practical, multi-sensory strategies that help students develop conceptual understanding before progressing to efficient mathematical procedures. - Standard 5 – Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
Use diagnostic assessment and ongoing progress monitoring to identify student understanding, inform teaching decisions and support mastery of multiplication and division concepts. - Standard 6 – Engage in professional learning
Develop practical knowledge and confidence in delivering evidence-informed multiplication and division instruction that improves mathematical understanding and long-term student success.
Manipulatives Included
Participants to this training will receive a CRA Maths Multi-Sensory Integer Block Kit* for engagement and experiential learning. This Kit is also included when you enrol in our 'Total Maths Mastery'.

The CRA Maths Multi-Sensory Integer Block Kit is our main teaching tool for all number and algebra related to whole numbers. By using these hands-on manipulatives, your student is able to bridge the gap from concrete understanding > to graphic representation > to abstract application and mastery of counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The Kit's additional features and improvements in size (now compatible with popular building blocks such as lego*), quality and presentation make this the most highly recommended in the current marketplace for integer-based base ten blocks.
This Integer Block Kit comes with our NEW Integer Block Booklet and Demonstration Video sent to you via email. If you would like a printed version of the booklet, feel free to add one to your cart below.

Note: If you already have an Integer Block Kit available, this may be swapped for the same price, with a Teacher Magnetic Block Kit for whiteboard use.
You'll also receive a set of CRA Maths Colour-coded Pencils.

These pencils are specifically colour matched to the Integer Block colours, making it easy for you - and your student - to learn to identify each number as it is taught. They are a great tool for the representation component of the student drawing what they've built. Fun, easy and applicable!

Course structure
Once enrolled, you are provided with access to your own dashboard and access to your chosen self-directed course for a 12 month time-frame. These lessons are unlocked sequentially to support your own learning journey. We invite you to, and recommend your attendance at, monthly 'live' online group Implementation Sessions through the Zoom platform.
This model will ensure you achieve understanding and mastery before progressing, and will also provide you with an opportunity to have any questions answered in regards to implementation within your classroom, small groups or one-on-one setting.
Prerequisites
We recommend prior attendance at our 'Foundations Of Maths' training. There are no other prerequisites for this training: just a vision to see your students excel in maths; to teach them the way they learn; and to transform their lives.
PD hours (minimum 25 hours)
- 10 hours approx. of video course content
- 15 hours approx. of practical implementation and training requirements (monthly implementation sessions, resource tasks, etc)
Multi-sensory Maths Specialist Accreditation Program Pathway
This course contributes to your elective PD. You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion. This 'Multiplication & Division' forms the second module of three, and is part of Maths Australia's 'Multi-sensory Maths Specialist Accreditation' program.
