How Brighter Maths Works
In 2025, Maths Australia introduced Brighter Maths - a new and improved multi-sensory maths program designed to help students truly understand maths and build lasting confidence.
So, how does Brighter Maths actually work?
When asked, educators - including parents, home educators, tutors, and teachers - often describe Brighter Maths as “the one with the blocks.” While our hands-on materials are a key part of what makes the program so effective, Brighter Maths is much more than that.
Here’s what makes it work.
Student-paced learning
One of the most important and often overlooked factors in learning maths is ensuring each student is working at the right level.
Many students are placed according to their age or year level, rather than their actual understanding. When this happens, they can feel overwhelmed, confused, or disengaged, which often leads to frustration and a loss of confidence.
Brighter Maths takes a different approach.

Brighter Maths currently supports students from early learning through to Year 7, with advanced levels being developed and released progressively from 2027.
This allows educators to confidently begin a student’s maths journey with a program designed to grow with them over time.
