Lesson 1: Introduction
This first lesson will go through what we're going to be covering in the course. Make sure you've got a pen and notepad and let's get started.
Lesson 2: What is Maths? Why is it Important?
If a child doesn't quite grasp the foundational concepts of maths today, what effect will it have on their life into adulthood?
Lesson 3: The Language & Symbology of Maths
Maths is its own unique language, with it's own symbols, structures, patterns and ways of communicating. When you learn maths fluency, you give yourself the best chance to teach maths effectively to your child.
Lesson 4: CRA Methodology & Learning Styles
Learn all about the CRA methodology and how it helps your child not just 'learn' a maths concept, but really master it, regardless of their optimal learning style.
Lesson 5: The BDWS Method - Teach with confidence
The BDWS method is helpful for you as the teacher (to know you've got a system), but also helpful for your child. A consistent and predictable format, paired with research-backed ways of delivering your topic while covering all learning styles gives you the best chance of success.
Lesson 6: Diagnostic Placement Testing
We've covered 'how' to teach, so what about 'what' to teach? There is also a system for knowing exactly what to teach next based on what your child needs, not just based on what they 'should' know.
Lesson 7: 4 Steps to Effective Implementation
How do you prepare, plan and deliver a lesson? The 4-step approach is a great practical framework for you, giving you confidence to follow a proven process.
Place Value is foundational concept number 1 when it comes to teaching multisensory maths sequentially. We're going to bring all of the methodologies and frameworks together and show you how to teach place value, and then apply this teaching style to (literally) ANY maths lesson.
Lesson 9: Course Conclusion & Wrap up
Final thoughts and wrap up and over to you. I hope you leave with a renewed sense of confidence and calm.
