About this training
Particularly for students with dyscalculia, maths anxiety and learning differences, maths must be taught using hands-on materials and a sequential framework. In our abstract world of teaching mathematical procedures that merely must be memorised, understanding Counting, Place Value, Addition, Subtraction and Time are critical concepts that many students fail to comprehend. We have all seen that if mastery of these basic concepts continue to evade a student, this shortcoming affects their confidence not only for assessments and exams, but for everyday life applications, as well as future study options and life career choices.
Using specialised Integer Block Kits, in this training you will master how to teach the following easily and effortlessly so that any student can understand these foundational concepts, and so that you as the teacher have full confidence in using these hands-on manipulative tools to explicitly and accurately teach counting, place value, addition, subtraction, time and beyond...
Exclusive access to this knowledge is through a self-directed course with 'live' online monthly group Implementation Sessions through the zoom platform. This model will ensure you achieve understanding and mastery before progressing, and will also provide you with an opportunity to have any questions answered in regards to implementation within your classroom, small groups or one-on-one setting.

The CRA Maths Multi-Sensory Integer Block Kit is our main teaching tool for all number and algebra related to whole numbers. By using these hands-on manipulatives, your student is able to bridge the gap from concrete understanding > to graphic representation > to abstract application and mastery of counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The Kit's additional features and improvements in size (now compatible with popular building blocks such as lego*), quality and presentation make this the most highly recommended in the current marketplace for integer-based base ten blocks.
This Integer Block Kit comes with our Integer Block Booklet and Demonstration Video sent to you via email.
Note: If you already have an Integer Block Kit available, this may be swapped for the same price, with a Teacher Magnetic Block Kit for whiteboard use.
Our pencil sets are specifically colour matched to the Integer Block colours, making it easy for you - and your student - to learn to identify each number as it is taught. They are a great tool for the representation component of the student drawing what they've built. Fun, easy and applicable!
Course Structure
Once enrolled, you are provided with access to your own dashboard and access to your chosen self-directed course for a twelve (12) month time-frame. These lessons are unlocked sequentially to support your own learning journey. We invite you, and recommend your attendance at our monthly 'live' online group Implementation Sessions through the Zoom platform.
This model will ensure you achieve understanding and mastery before progressing, and will also provide you with an opportunity to have any questions answered in regards to implementation within your classroom, small groups or one-on-one setting.

Specialist Educator
Accreditation Program
The I-CRAVE Educator Accreditation Pathway recognises teachers, tutors, and intervention specialists who demonstrate excellence in explicit, multi-sensory maths instruction. Each level builds mastery through online training, live mentoring, lesson assessments, and 1:1 educator support.
Progress through Levels 1–3 online to become an I-CRAVE Certified Educator, or complete all three and attend our in-person Master Educator event to achieve I-CRAVE Certified Master Educator accreditation.
This pathway provides the tools, structure, and feedback you need to transform maths outcomes for all students.
Why Training Matters
Student success depends on a confident and well-trained teacher. A great program isn’t enough.
We’ve distilled 24+ years of research and classroom practice into signature training levels that show you not only what to teach, but how to teach it effectively.
Designed for teachers, tutors, intervention specialists, and parents, our training is especially effective for transforming outcomes for students with dyscalculia, learning differences, or maths anxiety.
Our training is:
- Practical – step-by-step lessons you can use immediately.
- Research-based – grounded in the RTI framework and our I-CRAVE Maths methodology.
- Transformational – proven to boost outcomes for general students, as well as those with dyscalculia, learning differences, or maths anxiety.
Our Training is Evidence-Based
I-CRAVE Maths Methodology
Our ‘I-CRAVE Maths’ Methodology was developed by Maths Australia CEO & Director, Esther White. It informs everything we offer and systematises the latest pedagogical research to make maths the simplest subject in the world for teachers, assistants and students to understand, master and enjoy.

I = IDENTIFY
To offer effective instruction, you must know the student's current level of mastery. Through a sequential series of simple-to-use assessments, you'll identify the foundations that are - or are not - in place for us to build upon and hence where to begin.
C = CONCRETE
Every lesson begins with clear and accurate demonstrations using specific hands-on manipulative tools (integer blocks or advanced kit) to build rectangles and create understanding for application in real life.
R - REPRESENTATION
The student draws their own proportionately accurate representation of what they have just built. Much like a dog could look more like a dinosaur if the proportions are inaccurate, so too representations in base ten must be accurate to develop congruency, confidence and understanding (yes, that’s right - no bundles, no ten frames, no dots - they’ve been superseded).
A = ABSTRACT
Show the symbols and teach the rules of the language of maths accurately. With understanding from the concrete and representational stages, the student can both encode and decode with confidence and ease.
V = VERBAL
Consistently engage the student in dialogue to enhance their learning and to check whether your teaching has been clear and accurate. Have the student teach the lesson back to you to check for understanding. Them hearing their own voice embeds the knowledge.
E = EXPLICIT
Explicit Instruction refers to that which is clear, accurate, precise and transferable. We ensure absolute congruency between the models used, the representations drawn, the squiggles written and the verbal instructions given for application in everyday life. This congruency develops confidence and maximises teaching time through reducing extraneous instructional clutter.
The Research
our I-CRAVE Methodology is based on
Our focus at Maths Australia is to educate teachers in research and evidence based pedagogy and to provide them with smart, multi-sensory and developmentally appropriate solutions that they can bring to their students, confident of their success.
Since 2000, we've tested, and refined, how to most effectively integrate research to provide outstanding numeracy outcomes for both neurotypical and neuro-divergent students.
The products and services we provide are informed by the following bodies of research:

Testimonials
The training I have received through Maths Australia and the Total Maths Mastery package has been invaluable! I wish I had this knowledge from 20+ years ago when I did teacher training.
Christa Forsyth, Specialist Intervention Teacher
I have been using Maths Australia resources for 15 years. I will soon be starting my 6th child on it. In all my years of homeschooling this is the only curriculum that has stood the test of time.
Sally Farelly, Homeschooling Mum
I’ve just completed ‘Foundations of Maths’ Online Training Course. I’m so excited about teaching maths as a language and using your CRA manipulatives! Finally, a pedagogy is explained and demonstrated that is systematic and that teachers can make sense of in mathematics – thank you!!
R Parella, Leader in Numeracy
I have a year 7 son with dyslexia. Wow! What a program! My son flew through the workbooks and he no longer finger counts! Thankyou for providing such a fun and easy way for teaching maths! Thankyou for giving my son the confidence he needed to overcome his fear of maths.
